The trio have spent a great deal of time playing in the Northern
Territory over the last three years during the winter months, and
this new song written by band member Virginia Hermel embraces NT
scenery and has a toe tapping good time feel.
Featuring
Virginia on lead acoustic guitar, Jim on banjo, and Lynette on bass,
in bluegrass style, with vibrant harmonies the single’s release
will coincide with the trio’s time in the NT over June &
July in 2024.

Dixie are back with a new original single!
With
4 Golden Guitar nominations behind them over their 14 year career
Australia's own Runaway Dixie continue to bring their unique down
to earth style of bluegrass and country music to life in the many
songs they create together.
'Lonesome
Highway Blues' is an uplifting tale of missing someone and looking
forward to catching up with them again soon and is from Runaway
Dixie band member Virginia Hermel's pen. The song has a video clip
included via the band's website as well.

Highway Blues' features Jim on banjo, Virginia on lead accoustic,
and Lynette on bass, along with lead vocals from both Virginia and

The
6th album from RUNAWAY DIXIE - TICKET TO MARS is due out officially
in MAY 2021!
The
new album was ear marked to be finished and released in late 2020,
but with COVID-19 and border closures, putting our recording and
touring into 'standby' the album release was held off until 2021.
We
released a single 'Southern Rose' in 2020 which did very well on
the charts.
Now that shows and events are starting to happen again, it's time
to get new RUNAWAY DIXIE music out there!!
We
may have the hard copy albums sooner than May, but that depends
on the production turnaround so at this stage we will say the official
release month will be May!
The
album will be available for digital download soon through our website,
so stay tuned for more news re that.
The
15 tracks include songs ranging from originals and covers in 'down
to earth' acoustic bluegrass, to dynamic electric country / country
rock in the typical representation of the RUNAWAY DIXIE band on
an album.
There
are 6 new originals, one of which is the title track 'TICKET TO
MARS' which is a guitar instrumental featuring a Fender L Series
1965 Stratocaster (the cover artwork incorporates pictures into
the design of all intruments used on the album).
TICKET
TO MARS includes the single 'Southern Rose' released in 2020, along
with a re recording of a duet song that was recorded many years
ago on a separate recording project.

RUNAWAY DIXIE are very excited to announce our 5th album
'FACE THE WIND' has now been released. (December 2018)
Listen to an entire track 'Meant To Be' from the

This track was released as a radio single via
CRS is February 2019, via digital download.
The track was written by band member Virginia Hermel and is a happy
lyric about being in love, and 'chillaxing' with a fresh twist of
bluegrass banjo, vocal feel, harmonies, bass guitar, lead/rhythm acoustic
guitar completing the vibe for a touch of something 'different' on
the new album.
Runaway Dixie released the track via Triple J Unearthed at the end
of December 2018.

This is the first single from Runaway Dixie's forthcoming 5th album

South Australian based three-piece band, RUNAWAY DIXIE, has had great

They have also had great success with their revival treatment of established

“Fishin’ In The Dark” was a No. 1 hit in 1987 for
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and RUNAWAY DIXIE have reinvented it with
a fresh approach in their own style.

Australia.
Wow!! We are so excited to be anounced a finalist in these awards
(21/11/2017).
Congratulations to all in the section with us and to all finalists
in all sections of the awards.
We are humbled and honoured to again be listed with you all.
This is our third year as finalists in the awards.
We are very proud that every finalist we have had in the Golden Guitars
(2016 and 2017) and now in the 2018 have been with our own original
material.
The track 'Southbound Train' was written by band member Virginia Hermel
and is from our current Runaway Dixie album 'Poor Man's Gold'. We
are totally stoked!!
The Golden Guitar Awards winners will be announced on the last Saturday
evening of the Tamworth Country Music Festival January 2018.
